Why You Should Switch to LED Bulbs in 2020?

Updated: Aug 9, 2020

In 2019, more people replaced their old incandescent bulbs and compact fluorescent bulbs into LED bulbs. Many homeowners and even businesses like restaurants, offices, and factories to name a few switched to LED not only to reduce costs but also to increase lightning quality and energy efficiency.

If you are still using older types of bulbs other than LED, you should consider the following five top reasons why you should switch to LED this year (2020)

  1. LED bulbs can be installed to existing fittings. Yes, this may come as a surprise to many but you can literally plug and switch a new LED bulb to your existing electrical fittings and light bulb sockets. Like any other traditional bulbs, LED bulbs use the same standard sizes. From GU10 LED Bulbs, most often found in kitchens, to bayonet caps or B22 bulbs, they can all be retrofitted to your existing sockets. You don’t need to call for an electrician to replace your old bulb with an LED bulb. Almost anyone can just remove the old bulb and replace it with a new LED bulb as long as the socket is working. Just make sure the switch is off when you make the replacement.

  2. LED bulbs have a longer life and require minimum maintenance. Light Emitting Diodes (LED) are semiconductors. Meaning, when electrons pass over them, it creates light. Unlike the old incandescent light bulbs, there is very little wasted heat. Most LED bulbs have at least 1-year warranty - the same cannot be found on typical incandescent bulbs. Most LED bulbs last for years - a great value for money.

  3. LED bulbs are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly. While the initial purchasing cost of an LED bulb is 3 to 4 times higher than a typical incandescent bulb, the return can offset the initial cost. Studies suggest that LED bulbs are 10 times more efficient than its predecessor. Additionally, LED bulbs do not contain hazardous materials like mercury that can be found in most traditional bulbs. Using a LED bulb can not only save the planet by giving extra energy to other people but also saving the environment using a material with minimum waste.

  4. LED bulbs are available in a wide range of colours. Using a LED bulb can add design to your room. You can choose a colour that is suitable for the mode of your room. These colours also come with different temperatures and wattage. LED bulbs are available even in the lowest wattage like 1 Watt and up to 50 Watts depending on your preference and the area you want to light. A 50-watt LED bulb in light colour is more than 10 times brighter than the 60-watt incandescent bulb while consuming a lesser amount of energy.

  5. LED bulbs lights instantly! Some incandescent bulbs, especially those tube lights require starters to get lighted. LED bulbs light instantly when you turn the switch OM. Even with low power, LED bulbs are highly reliable.

Given the above reasons, there is no reason why you don’t want to switch to LED bulbs using a qualified electrician. With the increasing cost of energy, we must find ways on how to optimise the use of our available resources and LED bulbs are just a perfect solution.

Switch to LED bulbs today and start seeing the benefits when you receive your next electricity bill!
